Labor Market and Social Security

Tasks, Goals and Contents:

The working group deals with topics of labor market statistics and social security statistics. The focus is on empirical results on the one hand and on methodological and conceptual issues of these statistics on the other hand. The focus is on the supply and demand of the labor market, the structural situation of labor markets, the relevant balancing processes, the demand for skilled workers, the realized labor market demand in the form of employment or other gainful activity, the participation in labor market policy measures, and their evaluation. In addition, aspects of benefits and assistance receipt by persons capable of working are also considered. The focus is thus on the fundamental issues of supply and demand on the labor market and the associated balancing, support, and participation processes, with the actors “employers”, “employees”, and “social security institutions”. In addition to the content-related aspects and results, specific, methodological and conceptual issues also play a role. These include, for example, the development or improvement of data sources in the areas of applied statistics, the (further) development or comparison of measurement concepts, extrapolation procedures, forecasts, and methods for compensating for data shortfalls (primarily in register data).
