The Society

A warm welcome goes to you, dear visitor and dear visitor to the websites of the German Statistical Society (DStatG). The Board of Management is pleased about your interest and wants to inform you with this offer about the goals and activities of the company, about its history as well as about its structure.

Founded in 1911, the German Statistical Society is one of the largest scientific associations in Germany. It is a meeting place for statisticians of all disciplines from science and practice, providing their members and guests with a forum for the transfer of knowledge in theoretical and applied statistics as well as for a comprehensive exchange of experience. This includes contacts with business and administration, neighbouring sciences and foreign statistical societies. The DStatG is also concerned about improving education and training in the field of statistics and the promotion of young talent.

The company's events, the activities of its committees and the publications are aimed at supporting statistics with their various fields of responsibility – method development, data collection, data preparation and data analysis – as well as their mutual interaction. The DStatG thus sees itself as a link between producers and users of statistics. Last but not least, it seeks to promote the image of statistics in politics and the public.
